TROODOS,
Cyprus is well known for its beach resorts, but a pleasant contrast
is the densely forested Troodos mountain range. Troodos is
located in the South - West of Cyprus. The dome-shaped highland
is dominated by the islands highest peak, Mount Olympus at 1.953
metres above sea level. The entire Troodos massif takes up approximately
one half of the islands area. This part of the world is of great
geological interest, as it is known that Troodos mountain range
consists of the earths upper mantle which emerged from the sea many
millions of years ago. Troodos with its numerous traditional villages
is a destination in Cyprus that is both popular in the winter months
for skiing and other activities as well as in the summer for walks,
trekking and for the nature. |
