GENERAL
INFORMATION
From Little
Buckland Villa in Vlachata about 200 metres away you will find
the first of many restaurants and tavernas on a winding road
down to the village of Lourdas and then to Lourdas Beach. |
| Down this winding road
there are many excellent places to eat and drink, also a number
of supermarkets and specialist shops i.e. jewellers, local arts
and ceramics. On Lourdas Beach front there are many more very
good tavernas and bars to choose from. Going in the other direction
from Little Buckland you will come across Trapezaki Beach. This
is a beautiful sandy beach and very safe for swimming, the gently
sloping sandy bottom remains shallow for up to 50 metres into
the sea. There are two beach/café bars directly on the
beach itself and a very popular restaurant called Denis
situated on the corner. |

This fully air-conditioned
3 bed roomed apartment occupies the ground floor with sole use
of the lovely swimming pool and surrounding terraces.
The large swimming pool is surrounded by extensive
stone flagged terraces offering panoramic sea views. For 2005
a barbeque area is planned. The
Little Buckland villa apartment sleeps six persons in total,
and represents excellent value, especially to larger groups. |

open plan living room / dining room is modern,
bright and airy, it is tastefully furnished and has a large dining
table and satellite TV. French doors lead out onto a covered veranda
overlooking the garden terraces, the swimming pool and the sea.
The kitchen at Little Buckland villa, is spacious
and fully equipped with an oven, a 4 ring hob, fridge / freezer,
washing machine and extensive range of cutlery, crockery and utensils. |

There are 3 bedrooms in all in
little buckland villa. The master bedroom is
a twin with wardrobes and French doors that open onto the terrace
providing stunning views of the pool, the turquoise sea and surrounding
countryside. This room has an en suite bathroom with , shower
wash basin and toilet. Bedrooms two and three
are both furnished with twin beds, a wardrobe, drawers and both
have lovely views. |
The main bathroom
is furnished with a bath, shower, basin and toilet. All rooms
benefit from mosquito screens to add to the comfort of the guests.
Maid service to the Buckland villa apartment
is twice weekly, and the pool and garden are maintained on a daily
basis. |

KEFALONIA AREAS TO VISIT WHILST STAYING AT THE LITTLE BUCKLAND
VILLA |

FISKARDO,
a very pretty harbour village. It is pretty pastel-painted
18th Century Venetian houses cluster by the harbour, which is
a popular berth for yachts. Also during the summer it is busy
with daily ferry services from elsewhere on Kefalonia. |
| ARGOSTOLI
and a street named Daring Street to commemorate the occasion.
Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia and is situated by a bay
with narrow streets. Here you will find many shops, including
fashionable boutiques and gift shops. Restaurants and Tavernas
are in abundance as are the popular street cafés and bars.
The most popular of which you will find in the main square where
you can sit in the sunshine and watch the world pass you by. We
have two museums in the capital one of which is the Folklore Museum,
which is very interesting and tells of the Kefalonian traditions
through the ages and displays photographs before and after the
devastation of the 1953 earthquake. |
| ASSOS
is an unspoilt village on the west Coast. On the peninsula across
the isthmus from Assos is a ruined Venetian fortress, built in
1595. Apart from the occupation of the Venetians the French and
the Russians also stayed there in the 19th Century. The fortress
can be reached by foot and is a very pleasant walk taking approximately
45 minutes. From up there the all round view is magnificent, especially
around sunset. South of Assos is Myrtos Bay a lovely cove and
in the top 10 of most photographed beaches in the world. |

On the east
coast SAMI has ferry services to the Peloponnese
(mainland Greece) and Ithaka. It is Sami where much of Captain
Correllis Mandolin was filmed and this is evident
in the local Tavernas where you will find photographs of the stars
of the film. |
| Nearby
are two caves, Drogkarati Cave which drips with stalactites. It
is the size of a large concert hall and is sometimes used as such
due to its fine acoustics. The subterranean Melissani Cave-Lake
was a sanctuary of Pan in Mycenaean times. Part of its limestone
ceiling has collapsed creating a haunting place with deep blue
water. You may enjoy a boat trip around the lake for just a few
euros, and if you are lucky your boatman may sing for you as you
glide through the water. |
