weddings normally take place at the Santorini Orthodox Cathedral.
A Greek Orthodox wedding can also take place at a number of other
smaller churches but only subject to previous arrangements |

your reception venue and any of the optional extras for example
a photographer, musicians, flower arrangements.......or just choose

*The Baptism certificates
are required
|

*The confirmation
certificates will also be required

||

*The Certificate
with the assurance that you are free from any canonical impediment
for marriage

a These certificates
are collected from the parish priest of the same parish at which
you were baptized.
|
||
|
b If the date
of your confirmation is not recorded within the parish in which
you Were baptized, then you should ask for it in the same parish
in which you Were confirmed
|
||
|
*Take these certificates
to your present parish priest, who should then make the appropriate
prenuptial inquiries and catechetical instruction
|
||
|
*Also a written permission
from your bishop to allow you to have your marriage performed out
of your parish and in Santorini will be required, according to the
'canon 1115' of the 'Codex Juris Canonici'
|
||
|

ABOVE CERTIFICATES MUST BE OBTAINED BEFOREHAND BY THE WEDDING COUPLE

* At least one of
the two parties has to be of the Greek Orthodox religion
|
||
|
* Both parties will
be required to supply their baptism certificates; from original
church the baptism took place. The certificates have to be translated
in Greek, confirmed, and stamped by and only the Bishop of the local
church,not the Priest
|
||
|
* Both certificates
have to be supplied, translated in Greek and stamped by the Greek
Consulate.
|
||
|
* A church certificate
has to be provided to give consent and the freedom to marry
|
||
|
* The couple has
to be in Santorini for at least five days prior to the ceremony,
in order to visit the local priest and sign the relevant additional
documents
|
||
|
